NSEFC 2019 Season Launch

When the final whistle was blown in round 22 of season 2018, a 4-1 victory over Altona City SC would see the Eagles secure a runners-up finish.

A commendable accomplishment by any standard, with only 2 competition points separating us from the goal that was set at the very beginning of the journey.

Close enough, simply wasn’t good enough and not looking to hide behind any excuses NSEFC gaffer Ben Isai, his coaching staff and football department would put season 2018 under the microscope with the sole intent of pin-pointing each and every area in need of improvement.

Such is the highly competitive nature of the State League 1 (North-West) division, it was clear that in order to keep up with the ever increasing standard and rising expectations of the clubs supporters, NSEFC had to further evolve both on and off the pitch.

Whilst strengthening the squad was a top priority, quality of any incoming players was paramount and having scouted meticulously, 3 x NPL players with proven pedigree at the top level were quickly signed up, Mustapha Quaynor (Pascoe Vale), Tim Mala (South Melbourne) & Bardhi Hysolli (Northcote City).

Simon Tolli (Hoppers Crossing), Yoshi Itano (Tokyo 23 FC), Dion Sadiku (Heidelberg United) & Adnan Jumeri (Green Gully) were also added to the squad in early 2019 to round off a successful rejuvenation of the playing squad.

Off-field, Jayden Anderson returned to the club and takes on the vital role of strength and conditioning coach.

Jayden’s valuable experience and knowledge will no doubt help our players take a huge step forward with their conditioning and fitness levels along with preparation (prior to, on game-day and post-match recovery).

Pre-season would be a meticulous program planned around building a high level fitness, skills and an understanding of the game plan.

A trip to the Apple Isle to play a friendly against NPL Tasmania side, Hobart Zebras would be the highlight amongst a number of friendly games against local NPL Victoria clubs such as Hume City and Dandenong Thunder in order to gain a vital lesson in the level of commitment and professionalism (on and off the field) that is required to compete at the top level.

Promising performances in these friendly matches along with a round 3 FFA Cup victory against East Brighton United indicates that the 2019 playing squad, including all new additions have integrated seamlessly and ticking along nicely ahead of what will be an extremely challenging season ahead.

Before our season kicks off away to Keilor Park SC ‪tomorrow afternoon‬, NSEFC major sponsors, members and fans alike joined the players and coaching staff @ Larissa Reserve for the customary jersey presentation which coincided with the unveiling of our 2019 leadership group, where it was announced that Shane Rexhepi would once again wear the armband and skipper the Eagles in 2019, with goal keeper Zaim Zeneli and Edison Ponari named vice and deputy vice-captain.

Mitre were also confirmed as our new on-field kit, training and general apparel provider, so be sure to look out for our exciting new range of supporter wear to be launched soon!!
+ We will also take this opportunity to thank Engin and Celal at CM Sports for all their hard work putting together our fantastic kits.

R1 Construction will remain front & centre on the 2019 playing strip as they enter their 2nd consecutive year as our major sponsor.
NSEFC are extremely thankful for the amazing support and commitment received from Ramo Sulaj and R1 Construction.

With the excitement of the season ahead clearly visible on the faces of all in attendance, the evening’s festivities also included a delicious meal prepared by the lovely ladies in the canteen, a membership drive whereby NSEFC staff were kept busy signing up new / existing members and of course an interview conducted by Tilly who caught up with Zaim Zeneli.

You can catch what the Eagles shot-stopper had to say in the video footage included.

With all in readiness, the coaching and playing staff are all focused and determined to achieve the clearly defined target which has been set at the highest possible level, so now it is over to you, our loyal fans to play your part, because together with you, we #FlyAsOne.

You are undoubtedly amongst the most loyal grassroots fans and we again need you to sign up as a member and show up in big numbers (both home & away) to cheer us on!

We greatly appreciate your passionate support which has a profound impact on the playing group and encourage that your backing of the team remain strictly within the FFV’s spectator code of behaviour at all times.

With this said, we kindly ask all NSEFC supporters take a few minutes to read through and understand the points listed in the flyer we’ve included in the comments section of this post.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you all at our Round 1 match at Keilor Park ‪tomorrow afternoon‬.

Go Eagles!!
